Good news for iOS software users as Norwegian software company, Opera, has announced the release of its blockchain-ready Opera Touch browser for iOS.
The browser, according to the firm, would be available from June, 26.
Opera’s Crypto Wallet already has support for PC as well as Android, which it launched in December of 2018, however, with this feat on the iOS, it means that Opera is now Web 3-ready and can be found across all major platforms.
According to announcement by Opera, the Opera Touch supports the Ethereum (ETH) protocol as well as the Ethereum Web3 application programming interface (API).
Meaning that the browser supports Ethereum-based decentralized applications (DApps) and all ERC-20 tokens, stablecoins, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
More so, the browser also features a cryptocurrency wallet for storing Ether, the “Opera Crypto Wallet.”
Charles Hamel, head of Crypto at Opera browsers, while speaking on the new innovation, said:
“We believe that the Web of today will be the interface to the decentralized web of tomorrow (Web 3). With built-in Crypto Wallet, the browser has the potential to renew and extend its important role as a tool to access information, make transactions online and manage users’ online identities in a way that gives them more control.”
Currently, the wallet currently allows users to hold, transact and make payments in ethereum and all ERC-20 standard tokens and stablecoins, as well as collectibles such as CryptoKitties via the ERC-721 standard.
It added that the wallet can automatically detect and list any ERC-20 tokens used in ethereum dapps, such as in-game currencies.
More so, dapps, can be accessed by typing their address directly in the browser, saving the stress of using third-party extensions.
Thr post furthers reveals that, users who want to utilize dapps, are expected to purchase ethereum (ETH) and store it in the Opera wallet. Once this is done, a selection of dapps will be listed in the store in the app.
